Vishnu Ramankutty

Administrative Director / Viola

Srivishnu Ramankutty, a first-year Viola Fellow from Miami, has been fortunate to perform in various locations across the U.S. and Europe, including Norway, France and Italy. His musical journey has taken him to festivals such as Spoleto, Saint-Denis, Virtuoso & Bel Canto, Metis, Klassisk I Sentrum, Miami Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, New York String Orchestra Seminar and the Eastern Music Festival.

Srivishnu began his musical education in the Miami-Dade Public School system at Ruth K Broad Bay Harbor K-8 Center, where he was taught by Nicolas Repetto and mentored by Linda Shapanka. He continued his studies at the New World School of the Arts (NWSA)/University of Florida, earning his bachelor of music under Richard Fleischman’s guidance, and then completed his master of music at Lynn University Conservatory of Music, studying with Ralph Fielding. During his time at NWSA, he had the honor of performing Alan Shulman’s Theme and Variations with the orchestra as a concerto competition laureate. Along the way, he received valuable instruction from violists Chauncey Patterson and Michael Klotz and had the opportunity to collaborate with notable figures such as Lynn Harrell, Anna Netrebko, Renee Fleming, Christopher O’Rilley and Michael Tilson Thomas.

Teaching has also been a significant part of Srivishnu’s journey. He has taught at Miami-Dade College, worked with beginner string students through the Miami Music Project and participated in programs like the Greater Miami Youth Symphony. As a graduate teaching assistant at Lynn University Conservatory, he focused on ear training. He has also performed with several South Florida orchestras and ensembles, including the Miami City Ballet Orchestra, Florida Grand Opera, Orchestra Miami, Symphonia Boca Raton, Palm Beach Symphony and Nu Deco Ensemble.

Outside of music, Srivishnu enjoys rock climbing and practices Bhakti yoga. These activities keep him balanced and inspired. He is truly grateful for all the experiences and opportunities he has had and is excited to see where his musical journey will take him next.
